If you are anything like us, if you don’t get out to see a new film in its first weekend of release, then it usually doesn’t happen (with the exception of our devotion to Pixar films). With the speed of which legal rentals become available, it’s really fine by me if we forego the irritations of being in a crowded movie theater.

This reminds me that growing up, we were among the first to have a home theater. As a kid in the 70′s in the days before VCRs and cable TV, my father would bring home test 35mm prints from new films since he worked at a firm that processed films (Color by MovieLab. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?). We would watch on a traditional projector which he taught me to thread and it was projected onto a tripod-based movie screen. I’m dating myself, but writing this post jogged that memory and probably lead to my lack of patience with movie-going with the general public.
