No way, no how we’ll agree much. It begs the question that my wife and I can hardly ever come to terms on what big acts we both want to see because of our different tastes in music. There were three big “take-homes” from the Eurythmics Peace reunion concert:

  • Dave Stewart is a better guitarist than I thought. He’s no Hendrix of course, it’s just that I had him figured for a synth-pop poseur, but I liked his rhythmn style and tone – even if I wouldn’t dance.
  • At one point Annie Lennox was running around singing and dropped her mic in the heat of performance. Understand this – her mic took a  headfirst dive to the stage floor at Madison Square Garden. The sonic boom rivaled the SFX of a final boss battle in a triple-A video game. I can still hear it now, ten years later – and it still shakes me up a little. Her quip was “once a klutz, always a klutz!”.
  • When the band left the stage prior to the encore a huge preloader was projected.  As the progress bar  reached 100% the audiences’ applause increased in volume accordingly. Pretty funny  final touch.

The final concert was released on DVD if you are interested.

See you soon -
