Recently my son entered the world of Halo: Reach and has become completely immersed. It is besides the point that he outgrew the Wii a couple of years earlier; he started talking lately about trading it in for a Best Buy gift card.
Hold the phone. Flash back to the gargantuan efforts I made to ensure he would be the first in his class to get a Nintendo Wii a month after it launched for Christmas. I went the whole “nine yards” of waiting on line in the dark before stores opened in a soup kitchen fashion, only to be turned away three times and subsequently and paying too much when it became available online.
I wasn’t having it. Even if I only play one or two games in the next few weeks for nostalgia, or “research”. It’s a matter of principal.
Have a great Fourth of July weekend. And thank you for a new all-time high month of visits in June ’11 and new Facebook Likes. You guys and gals rock.
Regards,
-T.A.D.

You did go all out for the Wii back in ’06. Ever get around to playing that copy of Call Of Duty that came with it?
Unfortunately I just had to pick up a new one last night, as my original finally bit the dust, just started locking up in places.
The COD is “on tap” – started it but I choked in the hand-to-hand combat; also the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game will get unwrapped. Sorry to hear about your Wii. Did you get a black one this time?
Great job with the “air” quotes.
Went with the White Motion Plus/Wii Sports Resort Bundle – it was either get a black one with Mario Kart (which I already have), or the white one, with a game that I don’t have, and a $30 best buy gift card. So the choice was obvious.
You only have a slight taste of my unwrapped game syndrome. I ended up with almost a shelf of PS3/PSP games from the Sony Outlets when they had a $3, $5, and $10 clearance sale, and I’m wondering when I’m going to touch most of them.
Also, make sure you check out Child of Eden for 360, my game recommendation of the year so far (and likely the year).
Thanks. I still dread drawing hands so naturally I try to make it as difficult as I can!
Enjoyed your excellent Peter Falk tribute.
