Gotta love synthespians. A spokesmodel that works for free!

Have we ever chatted about “Family Guy”?

Here is the back-story: in the original run of the Fox series, there was a joke in what is in my humble opinion – the pinnacle of poor taste. I forget the setup of the scene, but Stewie utters “shake me like a British nanny”.

This was topical at the time since a widely publized case on the East coast involved an untrained British nanny who caused the death of the infant in her care by shaking. Call me old-fashioned, but a line labelled “good taste” was crossed.  I tuned out.

Fast -forward to a business dinner with my wife IRL’s boss (at the time) who encouraged me to give it another try. New writers, new blood- more clever writing.

Again, I forget the setup, but there is some third party trying to persuade Lois to experiment with girl-on-girl action to which Peter utters:

“Good luck, pal. I’ve been barking up that tree for fifteen years”. – Peter Griffin (Seth MacFarlane)

When I get around to my “Influences” page, remind me of Seth. I think he is one of the funniest guys on the planet. I’m also really starting to enjoy John Oliver on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

P.S. Labor Day in the States – for the benefit of international readers – is typically a “day off”, ergo – no one in the office, no one goofing off reading webcomics. Prove me wrong and share this little bit of comickry, please.
