Okay, I don’t get it. Someone please explain the appeal of this band to me. As a member of the rhythm section I don’t see what all the fuss is about. And to drop that F-Bomb so liberally rattles me as a writer constantly struggling to find the “right words”. These slackers go right for the profane on “Little Lion Man”.
In defense of my beloved lifeline cnn.com, the strip was inspired by a Rolling Stone feed. Still, an editor at CNN online decide to run with this important story.

They’re very different from most of what the radio stations are playing, which is enough to catch attention. Their music does a good job of drawing attention to and enhancing the emotional vocals. The lyrics describe troubled times and people, but never without some hope for the future. That seems to be the theme of their breakout album, to me at least: hold onto hope no matter how bleak it looks.
Also, you obviously haven’t listened to the album, or you wouldn’t talk about how ‘liberally’ they use The Word That Shall Not Be Spoken. It’s meant to convey something in that song, and it does so very well. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it wasn’t the ‘right word’. To choose not to use it is fine, but it doesn’t mean everyone else should make the same choice, or that they’re somehow lesser for choosing differently.
You pose a good argument, I actually did listen to the CD through with a few “skip”s, but maybe I’ll give another listen.
